It’s all good fun!

Its Monday tomorrow and another busy week ahead, but it’s all good fun!

Well no one can accuse us of not dancing our way through life these last few days. Pole dance, burlesque and even a street dance party for my daughter with the local dance school – Kirsty Farrow Dance Academy.

Meetings galore and great announcements to come people from Find Your Diva, Viva La Diva and of course Diva Divine!

Viva La Diva is whizzing ahead and we have such fabulous people and businesses involved from hairdressers to fashion houses, catwalk choreographers to corset makers, lipstick to love. It’s all there and we cannot wait.

Hope you’ve had a great weekend too!

Angels are sent were needed most.

So where were you ten years ago?

Did you then see yourself being where you are now in ten years?

For once, I can honestly say I know exactly where I was 10 years ago today, I was in the Princess Margaret Hospital looking at the daughter I gave birth to at 9.32 that morning, too excited to sleep, too nervous to take my eyes off her to sleep, because I already knew I never wanted to let go of this beautiful earth angel.

Ten and a half years ago, I came to Swindon, I came to live with my dad who collected me and stepped in just when I needed him most, quietly without judgement, without upset, just as dad’s are good at. For those of  you who don’t know I was single, pregnant and unemployed and struggling with the my daughter’s father choosing to reject me and my unborn baby at that time. It was a surreal space to be in, one of such mixed emotions, a dark place and no matter who was around it was a very lonely place but as I sat there, in that hospital that night, looking at that baby girl, the months of feeling I had nothing to give to this child, that I had already let her down before she had even taken a breath, had slipped away, as I watched her sleeping I was filled with only two emotions, no fears, no worries just absolute love and hope. Hope for  me and my child. I often wonder why I didnt call her Hope.

I look back over the last ten years and see where that hope has taken me. Sure, life is a bumpy road but without hope we have nothing. Never lose hope.

Hope is faith holding out its hand in the dark.  ~George Iles

Wait a minute it’s only Tuesday!

Wow, what a week already, no, wait a minute, it’s only Tuesday!

It is soooo busy here at Diva HQ with the 100 golden tickets, as we lovingly call them, being sent out to 100 businesses in Swindon, of all sizes, to take part in Viva la Diva 2011. We are so proud of this event and it is creating quite a stir already.

The vision of  Find Your Diva and Swindon Elite,  is destined to be a great success and we are already having enquiries about the 2012 one – yikes!

I am, on a personal level, thrilled to announce that contracts with A.I.M (Angel International Management) have been signed and I am now officially taking to the stage as they say, to perform Burlesque around the UK, my stage name is ‘Diva Divine’ and I am so pleased as have also been asked to work as a model too!

The Diva’s themselves are buried away working on our wonderful workshop programme for 2011 and we are now bringing our workshops to you, so if you are a venue or even a group of friends who would like to host a workshop of ours, whether a dance based one or a non-dance based one, please get in touch at . I am so proud of my little team, we may be small but we are mighty as they say! And that of course includes Tiffany who is working away in the boutique, Diva Boutique, getting everything ready for our Valentine launch on 11th February.

People often ask me where I find the time and the energy to do all the lovely things that I do and juggle family life, the truth is I thrive on being busy, it keeps me going, sure I have my moments and days I flop, but by doing and being I find you have the motivation and energy to do almost anything you want to and of course being in love with what I do and my complete belief in it helps! I think Doctor Phil summed it up beautifully with this quote:

‘Show up in your life, you have to act to become motivated,
not the other way round.’

Another great week ahead.

BUT where has the weekend gone?

It has been filled with socialising and celebrating with friends, dancing, re-hydrating from too much champagne – can there ever be too much champagne I ask myself- and a trip to see Gullivers Travellers with my daughters. Jack Black is as fab’ as ever.

The days seem to be flying by with so much activity to fill them. Life is being filled with such great experiences, great people great opportunities and a lot of fun.

This coming week sees another trip to Potters Bar for a shoot, something I love to do. Then there is an endless stream of meetings and admin as Viva la Diva gets firmly off the ground. I cannot express how excited we are about this great event we are hosting, the  Viva la Diva Show 2011, here in sunny Swindon. Karen and Nicky are busy working away providing pole dance and coaching sessions and the week  will end with ‘Diva Divine’ performing Burlesque at The Witches Brew in Bristol on Friday, a fab ladies night out that is set to be as we celebrate the art of Burlesque.

I am blessed, I get to walk a path that inspires me and I am thankful for it. It is so easy to become bogged down and live a life that has very little joy in, but to step out of that has to be a choice, a conscious choice, a choice to have more, to experience more and most importantly to be more, but you know what, I think a lot of people misunderstand that last statement. Life is sh0wing me very clearly that what we have to be is very much MORE of who we truly are.

When were you last your truest self? Do you remember how good that feels? I hope so.

Till next time

A Wow of a Week!

Hello everyone,

Wow! It has been one hell of a week and one that has completely flown by, so much to do, so many people to see and such great things happening.

Viva La Diva Show 2011 has launched so please, if you haven’t already, come along and click like on our FB page so we can keep you informed of all the fab things we have lined up:

We are also delighted to be supporting a fantastic charity at the Evening Charity Auction Ball too :

Viva La Diva Show is growing and growing just as we knew it would and we have fantastic projects running with SWINDON NEW COLLEGE and SWINDON COLLEGE, again headed by a fantastic female team! If you are interested in being a part of this great project why not email us at

Everyday I am meeting inspiring women from many walks of life and the common ground is that they have a love for what they do. It really makes such a difference. Today I met a lady who is exactly that, an inspiration, Mel is the founder of which she formed after her son Finley died at birth, she now runs this wonderful organisation providing support and workshops for women and dads who have lost babies. She too will be joining us at Viva La Diva and I have welcomed her under the wing of Find Your Diva as I feel her workshops are so beneficial to women.  Sometimes out of harsh experiences something truly magical can happen and this is most definately one of those times!

A Child Loaned
“I’ll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine.” He said.
“For you to love the while he lives
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven year
Or twenty-two or three
But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for Me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want the child to learn.
I’ve looked this wide world over
In my search for teacher’s true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes,
I have selected you;
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?

I fancied that I heard them say,
“Dear Lord, They will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
For the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.”

‘Diva Divine’

corsets, chocolate and the dreaded ‘c’ word!

It has been one hell of a week,  a great week that has been a lot of fun, a lot to do but all good as we work on the show that has finally been launched. Viva La Diva is taking place here in Swindon at the Steam Museum on Saturday 30th April – a date for your diaries ladies!!

More photoshoots have left the Christmas chocolate tins undisturbed yet again this week , so much chocolate this year!!

The low point of this  week has been that my daughter came home from her first day back at  school telling me that her friends mummy died on Christmas day of cancer. To hear that reality come out of my nine year old’s mouth was heart wrenching not to mention the conversations we are now having as she has learnt that you can get sick and die, being truthful but not fearful about such things is such a balancing act when talking to your children. When your child realises that mummy’s can die, its hard to watch that reality hit!

In that moment I was also reminded how precious and short life is and how important it is  to appreciate the good stuff,  to create moments that will be cherished as memories with loved ones, to share positivity, laughter and love, no one wants to be remembered as a grump and to choose to be happy as we put one foot in front of the other in this lifetime. It reminded me of one of my favourite Les Brown quotes:

‘Don’t die to discover you never lived.’

I am so pleased that we chose a breast cancer charity for the Charity Ball we are hosting in April, it just feels the right thing to be doing. Thank you!
